“O you who have faith! Prescribed for you is fasting as it was prescribed for those who were before you, so that you may be Godwary.” Quran (2:183)

Fidya, derived from the Arabic word meaning “compensation”, are religious donations made in Islam when a fast (notably in Ramadan) is missed or broken. The donations can be of food, or money, and it is used to feed those in need

Fidya allows individuals who are unable to fast due to reasons such as illness, old age, pregnancy, or chronic health conditions to fulfil their religious obligations. By offering Fidyah, individuals can continue to observe the spiritual significance of Ramadan and seek the blessings associated with fasting.

Fidya serves as a compassionate act of giving that supports those in need. The donated funds or provisions are used to provide meals, provisions, and essential resources to individuals who are unable to provide for themselves. By contributing to Fidyah, individuals help alleviate hunger and provide vital support to vulnerable communities.
